Pixi Beauty Skincare Roundup

I tend to go through phases with brands, and currently one of the brands that has sneakily populated my skincare stash is Pixi Beauty. To be honest, I've been aware of Pixi for many years - always walking by it in Target stores. The selection was always very minimal and to be honest I was a bit of a snob when it came to "drugstore" makeup and skincare. Slowly, Pixi crept up in the beauty world and has found its way into a large portion of my skincare stash. Now of course there's a ton of products from the brand, but here are some bits and bobs that I've tried from the brand that I love.

Let's start with face mists. There's a good variety of mists to select from and I do have my eye on a few. These things are relatively cheap and the mist is actually fine enough to give a light, dispensed spritz across your face. No worries about having that awkward single stream of product effing up all your makeup or shooting into your eye. The first one I tried from the brand was the Glow Mist, although this was *a while* back and at the time I wasn't a huge fan of misting anything on my face. I did remember liking it but finding it a bit stickier than I was used to. Everyone raves about this and when I found this in the back of my drawers  I did give it a spritz on my arm. Unfortunately it smelled a bit off so into the trash it went - but I'm tempted to pick up another one (and a few others too)! The one that got me most excited was the Hydrating Milky Mist. I actually picked this up for Jennifer during our swap and it entered my radar - soon after I saw tons of Glossier reps using it left and right and I knew I needed to have it in my life. It contains ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid and Black Oat - both moisturizing and soothing for your skin. I have been using this night and day since I received it a few weeks ago and I don't know how I can live without it. Y'all know I am obsessed with my Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist - but that thing costs an arm and a leg. This one is a mere fraction of the price and I thoroughly enjoy using it. It's coming with me to Asia and I'm pretty sure it will not return because I'll be spritzing my face all frickin' day. Annoyingly this bottle slightly leaks so after I spritz my face like crazy there's usually a puddle sitting around the nozzle. I usually just drop the extra product onto my hand and pat it into my neck - no biggie.

Can we all take a moment to admire this giant 500mL Glow Tonic bottle? It. has. a. pump. I repeat - IT HAS A PUMP. I saw this featured on Kate La Vie's blog a while back and although mine isn't personalized (ahem, Pixi - pretty please?), it still makes me giddy each time I use it. This makes my skincare routine sooo much easier as I can just grab a cotton pad and sweep this across my face. I've seen some gals just apply a bit to their hands and pat it into their skin - I'm not sure about that but with this pump I may be slightly more inclined to do so. This stuff is pure magic in a bottle - I swear my skin just looks brighter when I use it. This comes in many varying sizes so whether you're interested in trying it out, grabbing a travel size, or stocking up - there's a size for you. The Glow Tonic is one product that I don't notice a dramatic difference when I re-introduce it into my routine, but boy oh boy can I tell when it hasn't been in my routine. I've learned from my mistakes and will never abandon it again. However, I did just receive an order from Deciem which included The Ordinary's version of a glycolic acid toner with 7% Glycolic Acid - I'm definitely intrigued (another Glossier Rep inspired purchase) and am excited to see how it compares. Keep your eyes peeled for some sort of comparison.

A few months back Pixi did a collaboration with some beauty gurus in the industry - namely, skincare queen Caroline Hirons. She helped create this Double Cleanse - part solid cleansing oil and part cleansing cream to give you that perfect 2-in-1 product. I picked this up back in February (?) I believe when I was gung-ho on finishing up a bunch of products. Because of that I left it in the back of my drawers. March came around and I was sooo close to using up a few products that I pushed it back again. But towards the middle/end of March I finally cracked this baby open and mannn is it good. I did the true test and used the Double Cleanse on a full face of makeup - foundation, brows, waterproof eyeliner + mascara, cream blush, cream highlighter - the works. It actually did an impressive job at removing everything. My only issue is that I take showers at night and usually do all my double cleanse / face washing in the shower. The packaging is definitely not shower friendly and I stopped using it after a few uses. (Also, does anyone have any issues scooping up the cleansing cream side and it spilling over into the cleansing oil side? Just me..?) I'm debating on bringing this with me to Asia as it'll help eliminate the number of products I use, and I'll be able to just use this while getting ready for bed.

There are many oils in Pixi's lineup and I sort of impulse bought the Rose Oil Blend. I chose the Rose Oil specifically because it notes that it helps rejuvenate, restore, and renew your skin's luminosity - sounds beautiful. The 'blend' contains youth-preserving oils which help improve skin's overall elasticity and glow. I know I'm only in my 20's, but you can never start preventive aging skincare early. Right? I've been using this on my face maybe twice a week - I have a shit ton of oils to get through so I gotta rotate - and this one is a bit heavier than I'm used to so I don't want to use it every single day. Because I know I go through skincare products pretty slowly, I decided to start mixing this in with my body / hand moisturizers. It works well and leaves my skin feeling so so soft! *This is one of my tips if you have skincare products your'e struggling to get through - mix it into your other skincare/body care routines :)  I'm eyeing up the Overnight Glow Serum which Amelia raveeees about! Also - Hydrating Milky Serum? If it's anything as good as the Hydrating Milky Mist - I want it.

Last up on the list is the most recent addition to the bunch - the Peel & Polish. It's an enzyme peel which reveals smoother and brighter skin, leaving your skin with the healthiest glow. The first time I used this my skin was so soft. They say you can just apply it and let it do it's magic - you will definitely feel the tingling. Or you can add to this and gently massage your face with your fingers for a deeper "polish." This includes natural fruit enzymes to loosen dead skins cells, lactic acid to gently exfoliate, and cellulose peels/sugar extracts to "polish" and remove dead skin cells to reveal brighter skin below. Now when I say it tingles, it's nowhere near as crazy as the Drunk Elephant Babyfacial - you just feel a slight tingle (nothing unbearable). The results are so so worth it - and a little goes a long way. The tube is also much bigger than expected and the packaging is just major heart eyes.

So there you have it, a roundup of my favorite skincare bits from Pixi. I know there are so many other products from them to try. Next up on my list to try are: Glow Mud Cleanser, Glow Mud Mask, the two serums mentioned above, and a new bottle of Glow Tonic. What are some of your favorite Pixi products?
