How I Pack My Travel Makeup Bag

I absolutely love makeup, but when I travel I don't want to bring anything more than I would absolutely need. I evaluate my makeup and really bring the bare minimum. I've noticed that some friends will pack everything they have and bring their normal makeup bags from home with them on the road. When you're traveling it's best to keep things light and not bring things that you don't 100% need.

When I head on a trip I reach for my everyday necessities to throw in my travel makeup bag. I'll usually opt for a base that is dewy and will give me a healthy glow that will show in all my photos. But if you'll be heading somewhere warm, opt for a powder foundation and concealer. See what I brought to my last trip to Europe (Italy, Spain, France) here. I have a few mini brushes that I tend to reach for, including this bareMinerals Soft Focus Face Brush that is great for applying liquid foundation. I also have a travel version of a bareMinerals Full Coverage Kabuki Brush which I use to brush on any powder. I picked up a travel size of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light which helps give a photoshopped finish. I usually dust this over my cheekbones and my forehead to help soften up my complexion and add a lit from within glow.

I make it a point to avoid bringing anything that requires sharpening, that way I have one less thing to carry. I'll usually opt for a mechanical eyeliner, and this one from Smashbox is particularly perfect as it automatically sharpens on its own. Depending on how long I'll be gone for, I may decide to bring my Kat Von D Tattoo Liner to get that perfect winged line. For my brows I opt for a duo pencil with a twist-up product and a spoolie on the opposite end. Although I prefer an brow powder and angled brush to fill in my brows, this is a much better space wise when traveling.

I'll bring an eyelash curler because I can't be without it as well as a waterproof mascara. This just ensures that my makeup will be budge proof the entire day while exploring. Depending on your itinerary for your trip, bring a few lip options. I tend to go for a Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment of some sort to keep my lips moisturized at all times, and will go for one daytime lipstick and one evening lipstick. On my most recent trip I opted for the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Nude, the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria, and the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Amore.
