The Skincare Edit 002 | Evening Routine

Last week I brought you my morning skincare routine (HERE), and this week I'm bringing you my evening skincare routine. Everything here is basically a combination of the products I have in my shower and on my bathroom counter. I always dedicate time in the evening to pamper myself, it definitely helps that I like to take showers at night and am able to do most of these things while I wait for my shampoo/conditioner to sink in and do their work.

I always start off the evening routine by taking off my eye makeup. I pretty much only wear waterproof eye makeup so I need a heavy duty oil-based makeup remover to get every stubborn bit of eye product off. The Bobbi Brown Instant Long-Wear Makeup Remover is a firm favorite of mine - it's unscented, doesn't irritate my eyes, and gets every bit of product off without leaving my eyelids looking or feeling oily after. This also lasts me a long time, as a daily makeup wearer this remover can usually last me 6-8 months. I'll usually apply some on a cotton round and hold it over my eye to break up the product before wiping it away. After I shower I'll usually go in with a QTip dipped in a bit of the remover to grab any remaining product stuck between my lashes. (Yep, I'm really thorough.)

I've mentioned multiple times before that I like to do a double cleanse at night to leave my skin feeling squeaky clean. I like to use a heavier cleanser to get the bulk of any face makeup I have, and then I go in with a lighter cleanser just to make sure I didn't miss anything. My two firm favorites that I've definitely finished and repurchased are the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser and the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. I recently finished up a ton of products, including my Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I'm going down that cult skincare product list and next up to try was the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm. I have a whole post dedicated to this stuff HERE - in short a little goes a long way, and I can see this one lasting a hell of a long time. I've been trying out some new pur~lisse products and one of the products I was most excited for was the Blue Lotus Cleansing Milk*. I love that this one is a milky consistency and sulfate free - it leaves my skin feeling so soft and clean. The one thing is that it does have a bit of a fragrance that isn't exactly my favorite - but my sensitive skin hasn't been bothered by this at all. Thumbs up from me.

This year's body skincare product obsession has got to be the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil. I got a mini deluxe sample of the stuff from Sephora many many months ago and it lasted me forever. I had read somewhere that using it as an oil to shave worked really well and man was that true. It leaves your skin feeling silky soft, smells amazing, and is just a nice luxe treat compared to regular old shaving cream. A little really goes a long way so although expensive, this one is great bang for your buck.

I finally got around to picking up the full size Pixi Glow Tonic this year after going through two of the mini travel size bottles. (Why Target only carries the tiny ones I do not understand.) The Pixi Glow Tonic is definitely one of those products I didn't fall in love with at first, but after cutting it out of my skincare routine I found my skin looking dull and a bit lacking. This one really does help give you that glowing and lit from within look. This one can be a bit harsh to use everyday so I like to use this ever other day. This full-size product qualifies for free shipping on the Pixi website or can be ordered via Cult Beauty.

As mentioned in my recent Project Use It Up post (HERE), I'm trying to use up my Kiehl's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate. I find that it does a great job at smoothing out my skin and tackling my dry skin. I've been alternating between two serums, the Sunday Riley Luna Oil (review HERE) and Glossier Super Bounce.  I also find that I wake up with the best skin when I pair my Luna Oil with the Pixi Glow Tonic - these two definitely go hand-in-hand. I'm also down to the last drops of Super Bounce and have already ordered a replacement - hopefully it comes soon! Super Bounce is hands down my favorite Glossier Super as it really adds elasticity back into my skin - I usually focus this around my forehead, under-eye area, and around my mouth. I then work this into my neck and I find that it has helped with those dreaded neck lines (tech neck if you will). I'm not a fan of having anything heavy on my skin so adding in these oils allows them to sink into my skin overnight and work their magic. To top everything off I'll usually go in with an eye cream and dab it in under my eyes - I've hit the bottom of my Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment so I'm super excited to finally use it up. If you have any good eye cream recommendations, send 'em my way! I'm particularly interested in trying something with a metal tip or a roller application.

PS - I'm now a Glossier Brand Rep! Shop with me on my page (glossier.com/reps/cindy) and you can get 20% off your first purchase and/or free shipping over $30!
