At Home with Parachute | Bedding

It’s been a few years since I’ve really posted about our bedding and overall linens, but in the last 3-4 years I have amassed quite a collection from Parachute Home. From bedding to pillows to towels, I’ve tried a fair amount from them! I’m so excited to announce that I recently became a brand ambassador for the brand! If you shop with me through my link I will make a commission which will allow me to continue to grow this space and create content with you and the rest of the internet!

I thought I’d share some of the pieces I have along with my thoughts on them in case you were looking to pick up a piece or two (heck, maybe even more 😉)

Linen

  • Linen Duvet Cover (Photographed in Terra) | I picked this up initially a few years back in Coal and that was completely my bad. I have a corgi and the amount of hair he sheds was just a nightmare and the visibility of all his shedding made me never want to use it. I also felt like this was thicker in texture than Brooklinen’s version and initially did not like it, but I gave the brand another try with Terra and I’m glad I did! The more you wash it and use it, the softer it gets. It’s thicker in a good way and holds its shape. (My Brooklinen duvet cover is not the business and it has completely lost it’s shape and I’m going to toss it soon (aka donate it to an animal shelter).

    • I’ve since picked up a linen set in Clay and it’s the prettiest muted pink which brightens my room in the warmer months!

  • Linen Pillowcases (Photographed in Terra) | I also picked up some new pillowcases to go along with my Terra & Clay duvets, and also ended up getting a set in Bone to compliment these colors. My favorite style to get is the ‘Back Envelope’ since it really keeps your pillow tucked in, especially if you move around in your sleep (or are married to someone who does lol).

  • Vintage Linen Body Pillow Cover & Body Pillow | I had picked this up to use on my couch but didn't really do my due diligence to look at sizing lol (oops). I picked this up in the color Sienna which is a beautiful muted/burnt orange hue. This definitely has a thicker texture than the regular linen range which I appreciate in a pillow shape such as this - leaning on it for hours while lounging won’t leave a ton of wrinkles and unwanted imperfections and seems that it will last for many years to come. We have a much larger couch now and this pillow is now more adequately sized - I think I may pick up a lighter color (probably Natural) to not be as harsh against the white color of my couch.

Wishlist: I’ve been eyeing up Ochre since it was released in the linen range and also have a soft spot for Surplus. Perhaps after our home remodel I’ll pick a mix of these up to help give another refresh to our room!

Brushed Cotton

  • Brushed Cotton Fitted Sheet & Pillowcase Set in Ochre | After Ochre was released I wanted to pick up some pieces in that color, but wanted to try out some other fabric materials. I was excited when they released this in their ‘Brushed Cotton’ material and quickly picked up the set to mix and match with my other pieces. I figured it would go well with some patterned duvet covers I have and also mix nicely with my Clay Linen duvet. This one has an almost buttery soft feeling and while I was concerned it would be too warm, I actually find it to regulate temperature extremely well. It’s nice and cool when you get into bed but retains a good amount of warmth without overheating. It’s priced just a tad lower than the linen.

Cloud Cotton

  • Cloud Cotton Quilt (Photographed in Natural and Ivory) | I picked this up in Fall/Winter 2020 and this is my second Winter season with it. This is a biggg one and it keeps me super warm and cozy! It’s borderline too warm sometimes but I thoroughly enjoy being able to sleep in shorts and stay warm (I guesss that’s California for ya). I have a Floyd Detroit bed so it is quite low to the ground, but there is so much extra fabric. I would say that if you don’t want your bed to be drowning in a quilt, you could definitely size down. Take a good look at measurements and see what might work for your space. Another thing to keep in mind is that this one is quite tedious to wash - it’s thick and a dry cycle usually isn’t enough to cut it. I have to plan an entire day to cleaning this one and usually put it through the dryer, then set it out on chairs to air dry a bit more, and then back in the dryer for extra fluffing before it goes back on the bed. It also takes up quite a bit of space in storage so extra perks maybe if you have a vacuum seal pack.

    • An alternative to getting the quilt would be the Cloud Cotton Duvet Cover Set. I wish I thought of doing this as it has the cozy feel without maybe being as difficult haha. Also more flexible for use throughout the year!
