Shower Product Recommendations for Warmer Weather

(Would you judge me if you knew that this has been in my blog drafts since July 2 0 1 8 ???)

I always associate times of my life (and even the year) in terms of songs and scents. Collectively a lot of these products in this post were ones I started reaching for a lot during the summer months of 2018 and now are ones I always want to reach for when the weather gets warmer. I know it’s just March but Spring is just around the corner and soon after that Summer! So I wanted to do a quick rundown of some of the products that I loved, have repurchased, and recommend.

For the face, you can always bet that I’ll be double cleansing. I was gifted the Caudalie Makeup-Removing Cleansing Oil* and actually really enjoyed it. My all time favorite oil cleanser has to be the Tatcha one, but this one actually comes in as a close second. It has a slight sweet almond scent but it’s a nice thicker texture that really feels like it’s getting off all the gunk from the day - sunscreen, makeup, and dirt/pollution. It’s definitely much more affordable than my preferred Tatcha counterpart and I will definitely pick this up again once I run out of my current oil cleanser. As a second cleanse, are you even surprised that I’m reaching for Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser? We’re a big fan of MJC in this household and you can almost always find it in our bathrooms. It’s just the best second cleanser and always leaves our skin feeling soft, clean, and plump.

For haircare, one of my favorite discoveries in the last two years was the BRIOGEO Be Gentle Be Kind Matcha + Apple Shampoo* + Conditioner*. For starters, these two items smell amazing and refreshing. I’ve always been a big fan of apple scented products and this one really lingers in your hair and gives a fresh whiff of apple - it usually lasts for about a day after I shower and it’s never super heavy, so don’t fret if you’re sensitive to scents. These always leave my hair feeling clean, soft, and fresh and I’ve gone through about 3 sets of these since I was introduced to them in 2018. I miss them a lot right now and am definitely debating on picking these up again in the summertime! For hair masks, my all time favorite is the Macadamia Nourishing Repair Masque. For starters, this stuff smells AMAZING, it lingers a while and it makes me so happy. I have a few Amika masks I’m using, but none of them leave my hair as soft and silky as this one. I usually pick this up from Ulta when there’s a 20% coupon, and I’ll probably repurchase this once I get through the Amika ones.

For the body, I really am indulging in treating my skin with luxe products. It’s one of the petite joys in life and I fully intend to indulge in this as one of luxuries I’m lucky to have. For me, one scent that always reminds me of warm seasons is the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream. With warm scents of caramel and vanilla, this one just screams summer. When they started releasing more products outside of the cream, I was so excited when they brought out a body wash because it really meant I could douse myself in all things SDJ scented. The SDJ Moisturizing Shower-Cream Gel* is hydrating and has the same classic scent we all know and love. I’m not sure if this would be one I’d repurchase again, but if you really love the scent and are looking to splurge, this one really does pair wonderfully with the cream. I also love a good scrub (especially when it’s short wearing season) and it was nice to try the Bod Buff Smoothing Scrub ‘N’ Mask*. It was definitely an interesting concept of a scrub and mask 2-in-1 type of product. I’ll admit that I didn’t love standing around waiting for this to work as a mask, but I did love how this worked as an abrasive, but gentle, scrub. One thing I really loved about this product was that it came in a squeeze tube! I find that most scrubs tend to come in jars or zip bags and they can be messy. The tube was easy to utilize in the shower and was mess free - honestly the best part. For my favorite product that is an extra touch of hydration and my go-to product for shaving is the L’Occitane Shower Oil with Almond Oil. A little goes a long way with this stuff and the smallest amount can be worked into the skin for a touch of hydration and makes shaving that much easier. If you’re still using a cream to shave, let me tell you that shower oils are the way to go. Also this stuff just smells amazing and I could drown myself in all things Almond scented from L’Occitane 🤤.
