Casual Overnight Makeup Bag

If I know I'll be out of town for a weekend getaway or staying over at a friend's place for the night, I'll usually grab my smaller makeup travel bag and a few trusty items. I'm so fortunate to have a mom that is creatively talented and gifted when it comes to sewing goods - she made my makeup pouch for me (and basically every pouch I have ever owned). This one is a standard makeup pouch shape, with a wider and flatter base - it's great for fitting everything I need!

I'm really simple with my makeup on a daily basis, basically creating the same look and simply mixing up lip and cheek colors for a smidge of variation. These are  a few of my standard go-to items that I'll grab when I know I won't be in front of my makeup. I'm sure to grab my trusty NYX HD concealer as it is perfect for covering redness around the nose, discoloration, and spots. It's a creamy formula and can easily be dabbed on with my finger - no brush needed! Next up is eye primer - I'm not overly attached to this Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion, but it does a great job of keeping my eye makeup in place all day long, that is until I decide it's time for the eye makeup to come off. I like to then layer on my Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner for a quick flick - over the past year and a half, cat eyes have become a daily standard for me. I really find that it just opens my eyes, and I believe I've finally become accustom to doing a cat eye flick everyday. It actually takes me less time to do so than smudging out some eyeliner for a "soft, natural look." I'll usually curl my eyelashes with my Bobbi Brown eyelash curler (not photographed here), and will layer on some waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara is probably my favorite makeup discovery as of last year - it really helps to give my eyes the appearance of faux lashes and man does it hold a curl. I've been using the Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes mascara and it is wonderful for giving adding a pack of volume to my lashes. Although I am almost out of it and I see myself in the near future going back to my Maybelline the Rocket waterproof mascara. You can't beat the price and the quality of it! No face is complete without some bold brows to frame everything together - I love using the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil as it is quick and easy to use. The nib on this is much wider than the Anastasia Brow Wiz and helps to easily create the outline for the arches, and can be turned to lightly shade in the middle sections of the brow.

What are some of your favorite makeup products to take on a simple weekend getaway?

Cheers!
