Current Favorites | Lip Products

Over the last year my preference in lip products has shifted - and now with COVID and wearing masks at all times when we’re outside, even more so. While I still would love to be one of those girls that always has lipstick on, it’s really just not for me. I’m bad and I don’t drink as much water as I should and almost always have chapped lips. With that, lipstick wearing is not cute when you can see every dry patch of skin lol. Over the last few years I’ve shifted more towards tinted balms and in the past year even more so towards lip oils (both normal + tinted).

  • Clarins Lip Comfort Oil * | These have hands-down become my favorite products over the last ~year+. The shade blackberry is my favorite as it adds that perfect berry-bitten hue. I was fortunate enough to work on a collaboration with Clarins a while back and was kindly gifted the range to try. Tbh they’re all lovely and while I couldn’t use them all, I ended up gifting a bunch to friends and they love them as well.

  • Dior Lip Glow | I’ve been a fan of these for years - I have three. One in Pink Glow, Berry, and Raspberry. These add a touch of hydration while adding a natural tint of color. While pink glow adds a natural flush of pink, raspberry adds that ‘just ate a popsicle’ hue, and berry just adds a ‘just bitten’ hue.

  • Dior Lip Glow Oil * | After being a fan of the Lip Glow above for years, I figured it was a no-brainer to try their lip glow oil when it was released last year. I ended up talking myself out of it as I had a plethora of the Clarins lip oils lol. I received this as part of a partnership with #DiorBeautyLovers and I do enjoy it. It has quite a large doe-foot applicator, but I am a bit disappointed that it doesn’t add as much a pink hue as the lip glow does.

  • Laneige Lip Glowy Balm * | Everyone’s favorite Lip Sleeping Mask product now comes in a travel friendly tube. This definitely came in handy with COVID since I definitely don’t want to be using my fingers to dip into a jar when I’m out and about. Some of the shades do have a slight peachy pink hue (particularly peach), but otherwise I find these to be mostly clear. The tube version isn’t as hydrating as the lip sleeping mask, but I still think it does a great job. Just like the lip sleeping mask, the lip glowy balm comes in a range of flavors so you can really choose one that suits your preferences.

  • Kosas Wet Oil Lip Gloss (Jellyfish, Dip, Fruitjuice) | This was all the hype towards the end (?) of last year and for good reason. This felt more like an oil and was great because it felt hydrating but also gave that shine. I also appreciate that my hair won’t get stuck in this, and that’s always a perk.

  • Fenty Gloss Bomb | Cue the gloss that changed it all for me. When I thought of glosses for the longest time, I would think of the sticky ones that would be a mess when your hair got caught in it. These glosses do not do that - they’re glossy, hydrating, and never get stuck in your hair lol. Fenty Glow is the OG shade which is a rose nude - it’s beautiful and probably the perfect touch of color. My next favorite is probably Hot Chocolit because it just adds that warmer hue. I personally can never finish a lip product and love that RiRi brings out minis of these, often in holiday sets. There’s a new set for the holiday season (2020) which is beaut and one I’m personally eyeing.
