The Beauty Lover Tag

I was tagged by both Celina of The Celution & Faith of That's Just Fabulous to do this Beauty Lover Tag. There isn't actually a question about why exactly you love beauty, but I thought I'd just share a quick bit about why I do. Makeup - it's something that has have fascinated me for so long and as a kid I was always excited about one day being able to use it. I've always loved makeup and now as I'm in my mid-20s I'm finally learning what my beauty style is. And I'm open to letting that change. Teenage me would picture the bold eyeshadows, but current me is all about that perfect cat-eye, lipsticks, and lightly enhancing what I've got. Applying makeup is something I very much enjoy doing everyday, more or less a morning ritual. It's the best 10 minutes to myself to get ready for the day.

Keep reading to see my take on beauty lovin':

1. If you could have anyone in the world do your makeup, who would it be?

I feel like across the board most people say Lisa Eldridge. She embodies everything I hope for in a beauty guru, she creates looks that are subtle, wearable, and overall complimenting to the features we already possess. All her looks are great for everyday wear which, let's face it, we actually could use every. single. day.

2. What’s your top makeup tip?

So I'm actually not sure if I've shared this on the blog, but my tip is to actually mix eyeliner textures. What do I mean? Well I'm absolute crap at using liquid eyeliner across my entire eye so I usually opt for using a gel liner or standard eyeliner to line my upper lash line. I'll then take my liquid liner and draw in a precise flick at the end. For any of you ladies that struggle with a perfect winged liner, definitely give that tip a try!

3. What one makeup item could you not live without?

I couldn't live without my eyelash curler. If I'm going sans makeup, you can bet that I'll at least have my eyelashes curled. They really help to lift and open up your eyes which definitely helps to brighten up your face altogether. I'll never understand those who have never tried using an eyelash curler - ever. (PS - do the men in your life think these are terrifying contraptions? Cause my boyfriend does and I find it hilarious as he watches me in horror whenever I use my curler.)

4. What one skincare item could you not live without?

Similar to Faith I think I need to go with a face cleanser here. If I love anything more than putting on makeup it's definitely taking it off. I can't particularly sleep well unless I've showered and removed all the makeup. And a good face wash definitely helps me feel great and squeaky clean. Skincare is essential guys - we only get one face so definitely treat it well.

5. What are you worst at when it comes to applying makeup?

Eyeshadow. I just do not understand eyeshadow. For the number of palettes and eyeshadow pans I own, I really should practice more. I always feel like I have panda eyes when I wear eyeshadow, so I rarely use it. I've slowly been getting into the hang of daily eyeshadow wearing with the help of Burberry Pale Barley . It's subtle enough that I don't mind using it for everyday wear, so hopefully this is my baby step to becoming better.

6. What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to beauty?

Lol I thought about this for a while and I gotta say that my biggest pet peeve is chipped nails. Please - just buy a bottle of nail polish remover and wipe off the remaining polish. OR! Just don't paint your nails. (But don't get gels/acrylics - they just destroy your nails. Trust.)

I have two friends in particular who know that this is one of my "things." One will almost always get a free manicure out of it and the other will just point it out to me and laugh. To which I'll respond with "I saw.. but I just didn't say anything." But it's really fine, I still love 'em both anyways.

7. What’s your favorite makeup era?

I'm a huge fan of the 50's - it's a classic and glam look, what isn't to love? In particular, Audrey Hepburn is an all around fashion icon to me. From her winged eyeliner and long lashes to her skinny black jeans. I'm all for it. I think this whole makeup era really embodies a natural, yet sophisticated and polished look.

8. What’s your guilty pleasure product?

Dark. Bold. Lipsticks. Let's be real, I don't wear these on a day to day basis but I love to have 'em. I have a good number of these bright and bold lipsticks that I want to have "just in case" but know I'll rarely reach for them. But hey, some people collect figurines or cars, I collect makeup and collecting dark bold lipsticks are definitely my guilty pleasure.

9. What’s your underdog product?

My NYX HD Concealer has been a favorite for years. I feel it doesn't get too much mention in the blogging world, especially compared to the NARS Creamy Concealer, Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, or the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer. But I've actually repurchased this concealer and will probably continue to do so unless I can find another one that's great quality and a good bang for your buck.

10. What’s your favorite makeup product of 2015?

I always despise these questions as I never can just pick one, I'm a hoarder at heart. If I had to go with one product it would be the Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes mascara. I've never actually loved a mascara until I used this one. It volumizes, lengthens, and holds a curl. It is everything I could want from a mascara and more. Although Ingrid noted in her last video that Tarte changed the brush, so I'm savoring my current tube and keeping my fingers crossed for the next time I need to buy a replacement.

I hope you enjoyed reading this tag! I should be tag free for a while, but my next one will be a fun AM&PM Tag that my girl Celina CREATED. (Although this probably won't be prepared for a little while.) If you haven't read it, go ahead and check it out here and let her (and me!) know if you end up doing it!

A lot of ladies out there are already doing this tag, but if you haven't been tagged then consider yourself tagged by me! I'm gonna go ahead and tag Divya of The Conscience Fund, Miriam of A Whole Lot of Serendipity, Hao of HaoDoYouNgo, and Jasmine of Jasmine Talks Beauty.

Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week and enjoy the weekend!
